How do you connect two T-Mobile G1 phones through bluetooth?

We both have the T-Mobile G1 android phones. We are paired and unable to connect.

  1. You can pair, but you cannot connect. You can only pair with devices that can use other devices features, if that makes any sense. Let’s say you did connect, what could you possibly do in between them that you couldn’t over wi-fi or edge or even 3g. Another example of this is connecting an ipod touch to a G1.

  2. Good question. It’s a common misconception that if Bluetooth can pair with another Bluetooth of any kind, it can also transfer data between those two pairings. This is not the case. There are several different types of Bluetooth “profile” types. The type you are referrig to is called “file sharing” Bluetooth. The G1 and MyTouch do not have this type of Bluetooth profile. So, while they are very capable of connecting to Bluetooth earpieces and connecting to eachother and pairing, they are not capable of sharing any data back and forth. Since they are open market phones, there may, at some point be a software update that includes these capablilities. Also, look on the market frequently for applications that give these capablilities.
